Bruno Fernandes Says Pep Guardiola 'Didn't Respect Me'

Mar 14, 2020 2:09 PM

Bruno Fernandes spoke of his brief confrontation with Pep Guardiola during Manchester United's 2-0 win over Manchester City. The midfielder gestured towards the City manager to be quiet.

"I am so respectful of Pep and what he's won and what he did for football but at that moment, he didn't respect me and he didn't deserve my respect," said Fernandes of the moment.

"But for me, it doesn't matter what happens on the pitch, now we're out of it and it's past. I have respect for him, so it doesn't matter what he said."

United are unbeaten in 11 matches, with Fernandes adding that there is still room for improvement.

"I see the same team from one month ago. I think we are the same and have a lot of hunger to win, to give a lot, to do better and better in every game.

"In the last month, we've had a lot of really good games and I think we can talk about a new start after Bruno, but it's not about Bruno, it's about the team.

"A team changes when everyone pushes together for the same side. When I arrived, I saw the team pushing for the same side and to win games, get better and I'm another player to help."

Gerard Pique: No Problem With Barca Assistant Eder Sarabia

Mar 8, 2020 2:02 PM

Gerard Pique said that the team has no problems with Barcelona assistant manager Eder Sarabia.

Sarabia has come under scrutiny due to his emotional outbursts on the touchline.

"When the club is being weak, these types of things rise up. A few weeks ago, the talk was about the players not having a huddle before the game and it was because of the change of coach, just like the warm-up was different. It's the same thing. [Sarabia's behaviour] is completely normal," said Pique.

"The assistant coach is full of adrenaline, it's all completely normal for us. The boss apologised and we told him that it wasn't because of us; in any case it was because of the image of the club. We really don't care; in fact, we like that there's intensity in the dugout and they're living [the game] too."

Barcelona returned to the top of the table following a 1-0 win over Real Sociedad.

Pep Guardiola: Phil Foden 'Can Achieve Whatever He Wants'

Mar 3, 2020 12:15 PM

Pep Guardiola praised Phil Foden following the 19-year-old midfielder's man-of-the-match performance in a 2-1 win over Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup final.

"Of course, I'm delighted about his performance and his behaviour in good moments and bad moments. Just think work and work and it always pays off," said Guardiola.

"[He has to] improve and improve and improve. He is 19-year-old, you have a lot to improve but with his behaviour he can achieve whatever he wants."

Foden is reportedly close to his first England call-up.

Guardiola added that Leroy Sane is still not close to a first team return after rehabbing with the U23s.

"He [Sane] is not ready. Six months out, he needs a process. When you start you feel good but he is doing the normal steps to come back, playing in the second time for 50 or 60 minutes," said Guardiola.

Gerard Pique Says Current Real Madrid 'One Of the Worst' I've Faced

Mar 2, 2020 1:14 PM

Gerard Pique said that this current iteration of Real Madrid is one of the worst he can remember playing following Barcelona's 2-0 loss at the Bernabeu.

"We are upset," Pique said after the match. "We thought we could get a good result here because Madrid came into the game in bad shape. It was one of the worst Madrid sides I've faced at the Bernabeu in the first half."

Pique added that his side had several chances to finish off the match.

"We missed a chance to hurt them. We have to play better than in the second half. We lost balls and they grew in confidence and pinned us back. It feels like a missed opportunity, especially in the first half. We could have killed the game off," said Pique.

Sergio Ramos brushed off Pique's remarks.

"I would take playing as badly in the first half as he thinks we played if it meant winning every Clasico," said Ramos.
